Midnight-sun offsite
A strategy offsite where it never gets dark. The schedule flips: sessions in the afternoon, a hike at eleven at night, the debrief at one in the morning in full daylight.
How it runs
- Day 1, 13:00Arrival, lunch outside.
- 15:00Session one.
- 20:00Dinner outdoors, still in full sun.
- 23:00A guided fell hike.
- 01:00Debrief on the top. The sun hasn't gone anywhere.
What to know
- Around midsummer the sun doesn't set north of the Arctic Circle. The further north, the longer it lasts.
- Blackout curtains in every room. Sleep is part of the programme.
- Mosquitoes are real in July. Routes, timing and gear are planned around them.
Good for
Teams who need a reset and a different rhythm.
Not for
Groups who need early flights home, or a tightly timed agenda.
Questions planners ask
When is the midnight sun in Finnish Lapland?
Around midsummer. Near Rovaniemi the sun stays up for a few weeks; in the far north, around Utsjoki, for about two months.
How do people sleep?
In rooms with blackout curtains, on a schedule that starts later in the day. Most people adjust within a night.
Is summer quieter than winter in Lapland?
Usually, yes. Winter is the peak season, so summer venues and guides are easier to book.
