Frozen-lake boardroom
Your leadership meeting, held on a frozen lake. A heated tent, a long table, and a fishing hole three metres from the coffee.
How it runs
- 09:30Pick-up from the hotel. Everyone is fitted with winter overalls, boots and mittens.
- 10:30A short walk out onto the ice. The tent is already warm and the screen is on.
- 11:00Session one. Phones get surprisingly quiet at −15°C.
- 12:30Lunch on the ice: fishing holes drilled, a guide on hand, the catch cooked over fire. There's a menu that doesn't depend on luck.
- 14:00Session two, while the light lasts.
- 15:30Sauna on the shore, with an ice-hole dip for whoever wants one. Off the ice before dark.
What to know
- Ice thickness is measured on the day. A lakeside cabin is held as the fallback, so the meeting happens either way.
- All outdoor gear is provided. Guests bring a hat and an open mind.
- A generator runs the screen, lights and heating. Video calls depend on mobile coverage at the site, so it's checked in advance.
- January daylight is short. The agenda is built around it, not the other way round.
Good for
Leadership teams, board strategy days, small kick-offs that need a reset.
Not for
Groups over 30, or meetings that need a stable hybrid setup.
Questions planners ask
Is it safe to hold a meeting on a frozen lake?
Yes, when it's done properly. The local partner measures the ice on the day and only sets up when it's thick enough for the load. A lakeside cabin is held as a fallback, so the meeting goes ahead either way.
How cold is it, and will people be comfortable?
Finnish lakes in January to March are often between −5°C and −20°C, colder in Lapland. Inside the heated tent it's comfortable in a jumper. Everyone gets winter overalls, boots and mittens for the walk out and the fishing.
Can we use a screen or run a hybrid meeting?
A screen, yes: a generator runs the screen, lights and heating. Hybrid depends on mobile coverage at the lake. For meetings that can't afford a dropped call, keep this one in person.
How much does a frozen-lake meeting cost?
Typically €250–450 per person for the day, excluding VAT, flights and accommodation. Group size moves the price most: the tent, generator, guide and fallback cabin cost the same for 8 people as for 30.
How far ahead should we book?
Three to six months. The February and March ski holiday weeks fill accommodation fast, so book earlier for those.
