Build your own ice bar
Teams build an ice bar with professional ice sculptors, then open it for the evening party. You drink at what you built.
How it runs
- 13:00Ice blocks delivered, safety briefing with the sculptors.
- 14:00Teams build the bar, the glasses and one sculpture each.
- 17:00Lighting goes in.
- 20:00The bar opens. Drinks served in ice glasses.
What to know
- It needs steady frost, which is why we plan it from January to March.
- Professional sculptors handle the tools; teams handle the ideas.
- The bar melts away in spring. Nothing to throw away.
Good for
Incentive groups and kick-offs that need a shared project.
Not for
Groups who'd rather sit indoors all evening.
Questions planners ask
Is it safe to work with ice tools?
Yes. Sculptors run a safety briefing and handle the sharp tools; teams do the shaping and design.
What if it's not cold enough?
Lapland in January to March is reliably below freezing. We still keep an indoor backup venue on hold.
Do people need to be creative?
No. The sculptors make every team's idea work.
Thinking of doing this?
Borrow the idea, it's yours. If you'd like a hand, or just a second opinion on whether it suits your group, write to me. I produce ideas like this one at Sorry, No Polar Bears, a Helsinki studio I co-run.
